I know some of you have been awaiting anxiously for more blogging action...but it really has been just another blah week. Eating healthy, losing weight a little more slowly since we moved into phase 2, running, going to work, neglecting all housework, Greg is managing to get sick again (I am sure deep down he blames all the greens he is being forced to eat), and reading. That really has been the extent of it. I am finishing up the last Twilight book and I am really not sure what I am going to do after that.
Greg and I got a Mac last night, it was a used PBA Mac, but it was pretty inexpensive and since my Dell decided it doesn't want to turn on anymore we were in need of a new one. So we have a shinny "new" computer to occupy some time at home, a big mess to clean up, and a dog who is getting groomed tomorrow (about time, her butt fur is getting out of control)
So, like I said...nothing remarkable. Hopefully we can top off this less than exciting week with a date night and reconnect, I feel like although not a whole lot is going on that we have just been all over the place. It really is a strange feeling and I can't quite put my finger on it. hmmm...
PS- Lauren & Jeff had a baby boy on the 27th, "Will", and he is pretty cute and I am pretty excited for them!

So far...
Finally I have my morning coffee in my hand! I feel like I have been all over the place this week, but it has been a good one. I have actually gotten out of bed to go run a few times with Amanda (she ran cross country at HOPE, she definitely pushes me). My legs are sore, my abs are sore, but my ego is doing fine. I have managed to keep up with the diet and my clothes are starting to fit a lot nicer. I have completed Twilight and New Moon and am beginning Eclipse as I write. Let's not talk about the fact that our house is a wreck, I can't keep up with laundry or dishes since I have been sucked into the land of Vampires. Mya has gotten back into the habit of finding socks and dragging them into the living room so our floor is covered with dirty socks of all colors, she does not discriminate. It is a never ending process picking those up. Our end tables are covered in water bottles, eaten sugar free jello containers complete with spoon, and Popsicle sticks. You'd think some REALLY lazy people live there! Well, that may be true this week but since I have been reading Greg has been able to watch all the car shows his little heart desires that he has recorded while I sit by the lamp oblivious to what is happening in my surroundings until Mya decides she hears something that merits a good barking... Oh what a week. I need to finish reading this series so I can get back to my life and do some chores.

Twilight
Ever since college when I discovered that reading could be done just for fun, and not some sick form of torture set upon by a teacher's plot to ruin my evening, I have loved fiction novels. I have read each of the Harry Potter books at least 3 times. I began to broaden my scope to books about leadership, how to grow in my faith, how to raise a puppy, and even actually reading the Journal of Athletic Training cover to cover. Reading does something for your mind that no movie or tv show ever could.
I can not encourage people enough to read! I wonder if people who say "I don't read" really can read. Do they just choose not to because they would rather have someone else tell them how to think, and what to think, and how far their imagination can take them. People who are in a role to lead, to influence, an to educate are people who should be READING! OK, enough of my soap box.
The latest of my fiction novels has been Twilight, let's ignore the part that it was written for teens. Oh man it was good, a little love, a little action. I am already on chapter 6 of New Moon. I highly recommend it, the first chapters kinda drag but you get sucked in toward the end. I was reading it outside of Starbucks with Greg the other day during the highest climactic part of the book when one of my athletes saw me snuck up on me put their hands over my eyes, pulled me back, and I SCREAMED! People around us who saw it coming were laughing so loud, I was in shock. If my heart was not pumping fast already it sure was after that.
GO READ!

Pray for the President
It is a good reminder today, thanks Karen, to pray for our new president. In spite of our feelings and some of my fears I have to trust that the Lord knew what he was doing when he allowed Mr. Obama to be elected. The Bible tells us to support and to pray for our elected officials. I am putting my trust in the LORD that President Obama will be a good leader, since I am unable to put my trust in President Obama.
Today is a historic day for our country, there is no denying that. God Bless America, God Bless President Obama, and God Bless a Capitalist Economy!...stupid socialism.

On a brighter note today is one week since the WPB diet has begun. Greg has lost 6.5# and I have lost 3#. I am pretty pumped about that :)

No vitamins with breakfast
Sorry if this is TMI but it is too good to keep to myself.
This morning I made my turkey bacon and eggs, drank my bottle of water and took my multi-vitamin. I quickly went out the door on my way to work. When I got on the first main road I burped once (which my vitamin makes me do) and then I coughed with a little heave at the end of it. I soon became aware that I might lose my breakfast. I looked around the car for a bag and found a grocery bag on the floor that I almost threw away yesterday, and grabbed it onto my lap. I turned the air up, and since I was not in a location where I could pull off the road I continued to press on. Shortly after I proceeded to fill my plastic bag while driving down the road, up came the eggs, up came the water, and on the third heave when I had managed to get myself safely into a parking lot, up came beautiful bright green whatever... I got out of the car which I thankfully remembered to put into park. The plastic bag had thankfully managed to hold the enormous amount of evacuation, and I had managed to keep clean. I spit into the bushes a few times, felt fine, and continued my journey to work. I am assuming my vitamin made me sick since when I take it on an empty stomach it tends to do that. Apparently I need to start taking it with lunch. Yuck, I was impressed with my driving and aiming skills however!
Day 4: of our diet and I have found it pretty easy actually. Not too many cravings and I have consumed so much water my body doesn't know what to do with it, I am running to the bathroom like every hour (annoying). Greg has been doing quite well also, he is not cheating like I thought he might (sorry hunny). He snuck on the scale this morning to discover he has lost 5#. I am trying not to weigh in till next Tuesday.

Phase #2 of our get in shape plan is to get active...
While I was volunteering in Disney there were tons of runners who were a part of the team in training for Leukemia and Lymphoma. After doing some more digging I am going to a team meeting tomorrow morning to find out more. But it looks like through doing fund raising for the L&L they will pay for your race, your lodging, your flight etc... might be too good to pass up.

The WPB Diet
Its the South Beach only one hour north. :) After a Christmas Season of stuffing our faces and feeling the ramifications of such, Greggy poo and myself decided to get eating healthy and try to drop a few unwanted pounds that have made themselves all too comfortable on our midsections. Since we know people who have had good results with the South Beach Diet, we decided to start it up. And since it is a lifestyle change not a starve yourself diet.
Yesterday was day one, and so far so good. The first two weeks are the toughest, but you still get to eat!
A few things I have learned so far:
1) Coffee does not count as breakfast
2) Asparagus makes your pee smell, HORRIBLE!
3) my multi-vitamin makes me burp strawberry flavor (I usually took it at night and since I have been eating breakfast I can take it in the morning now since it made me nauseous.)
4) Vegetables make you fart.
5) Greg likes tilapia, and Holly can prepare fish so it is tasty
Isn't eating healthy a joy. Goal #2 with the diet once we get to put the sugar back in is to start running! I gotta do it. I will keep you updated on how it is going since I need some accountability.

Wii were just having fun
Before I knew it last night it was 1am and way past our bed time. I rolled out of bed this morning with some SORE ARMS! Thanks to our parents we now have the pleasure of some healthy competition on the Wii. I am sharpening my skills at cow riding, balloon popping, guitar strumming, and people spotting. I am mastering the controls and attempting to beat Greg at something. While I wasted away in the library in college my dear husband was busy playing Halo and other games where the whole goal is to kill as many people as you can while trying not to die yourself. I would dare say that the Wii is slightly more family friendly although I am not a gamer, I have fun none the less.
One thing last night and my soreness this morning has reiterated to me is my need to MOVE! So...I am working on a plan and I will let you all know how that pans out for me.
