It has been a LONG WEEK. Spring season is in full force as the basketball teams are trying to run out their season with some wins. We are trying to squeeze in some time with friends here and there, but honestly all my free time I want to spend at home just relaxing with booger or working on my sewing. Lord knows I dont want to catch up on the laundry like I should be doing.
Last weekend I managed to complete my star wall hanging for the guest room, and I am in the process of making a big block tropical quilt. I am practicing the fine are of free motion quilting, before now when I made a quilt I would just get some yarn and tie it off, which gives it a cute effect, but I am trying to broaden my horizons. But I need to avoid the fabric store...I get carried away.
This next week should be a fun one. We have events all week and then Sunday morning the 8th I get to hop on a bus with the MBB team and head to SC for the NCCAA regional basketball tournament. While the ladies travel with Jen to IN for their National tournament. Then when we get back from that trip (which I will be the only lady going). I get to head to Cocoa with Greg and we get to hang out with Pops and Grams for a couple days which will be a nice end to what will be a crazy couple of weeks. If anyone can recommend a good bus ride book I would appreciate it.
Greg is out having fun today with John. They went somewhere to go off roading in John's Heap (I mean Jeep). They should have fun though Greg loves that stuff and it has been a while since he has been able to go.
Well...that is all for now, I put a picture up of my latest quilting creations as they come...

Seriously?!?
What does a girl gotta do around here to get her caffeine fix? I went to Starbucks this morning to get my usual and I let my people behind the counter know that yesterday they left out the shot of espresso (I get a dirty chai latte, a chai with a shot of espresso) and they decided since I am putting their children through college that they would give me a free drink. Only when I sat down to read my book and sip my joe it tasted...off. Not sure if they made it with soy? or what but it was wrong and since I had already complained and it was free I just decided not to drink it.
I am now on Campus and I went to the mail room to send out some packages that I had all ready to go out yesterday and never got around to and walked by the campus cafe' called Jazzmans. I NEVER go there since the people behind the bar have no clue what they are doing, but I had a NEED. A need to spend money that I should be saving up to go to our taxes but let's not talk about that. Instead against all my better judgement I went to the counter and ordered. It was more $$ than Starbucks and tastes like...well crappy coffee. I am totally bummed and sitting here sad and sucking down every last drop of this gross latte :(

Can I get a jump?
Usually Greg would like it if I called him in the morning and asked him to come jump me. But for the past 3 Mondays like clockwork I head out to my car to head to work and my car wont start. The past 2 weeks Greg's been at work so I called on the front desk (I mean we do pay HOA fees they can do something for me) and the next week I asked out nice neighbor, and this week thankfully Greg was home. I don't know what is wrong but if I don't drive my car for more than 24 hours it decides it doesn't want to start. I don't know its just annoying and I really don't want to pay to have anything fixed, so far the jumps have worked so we might just have to plan ahead or I might have to start driving my car on Sunday.

Beach Day
After our romantic Valentines evening of dinner at Moe's (like Qdoba) and then a movie (He's Just Not That Into You), we managed to get up and attended church this morning as usual. After Church today went to the "Get in the Game" meeting after the service in an attempt to get to meet some people and learn how to get involved at church. I am hopeful that we will be able to find a way to serve at our church and that is pretty exciting. We have had some bad luck with getting hooked up with small groups due to our work schedules.
But by the time we got out of the meeting it was about 3:30 and a HOT and SUNNY day. We decided to get Mya and go to the dog beach. On our way the clouds managed to roll in and it got a little breezy but that didn't keep Greg and Mya from having a splendid time (I sat in the chair with a towel over me). She ate about 2lbs of sand, ran all over chasing the tennis balls Greg threw to her, she demonstrated her skills at being "Off Leash" and listening to Greg's commands, and we now know she wont go into the ocean. It really was quite enlightening and really fun to see her run all ove,r digging and fetching, and know she wont run away and she can just be free.
I think we have a date for a bonfire in a little bit and I have not managed to do any laundry or dishes on my Sunday off...Oh well, time with Greg and Booger is a good trade for a mess of a house. (I have inherited my mothers LOVE of housework, oops)

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's day. What are you doing today to tell your loved ones they are special? Buying chocolates, flowers, cards, promoting Hallmark in your own special way? I will be working (of course). But I anticipate some snuggling and movie watching later this evening, what more can a girl ask for. (well we wont discuss that, this is a family blog).

Umpires (Happy Friday the 13th)
Last night marked the 10th softball game for the sailfish. They have had a good season so far although last night was the exception. I have finally managed these past 2 weeks to get out in the sunshine and the weather has gotten increasingly better much to my delight. Last night although the games did not go as we had hoped the officials were how do you say it interesting. It was the night of the fowl ball and whenever the plate official would not have a ball to trow to the pitcher he would walk over to our dugout and say "coach the umpire has NO BALLS." Me being the professional I am snickered and giggled each time. The tone and the seriousness that he said it sounded like a confession, and with all the time I have spent at games that has to be the first I have heard it quite put that way over, and over, and over. When the second game started, the officals switch positions on the field so the one with no balls was now on 1st base and the plate official quickly revealed his own quirk. He sounded like a large bird, I like to say a pteradactal, every time he called a strike. There was no mistaking a strike for a ball, with his loud cawing every time the ball hit the glove. It was an entertaining game.
Today I get to work the last home game for Mens Basketball and I am throwing a little party about it in my brain, yay brain party.

Family in town
Last weekend was fun, after a long evening of standing in the cool air watching tennis, Pops and Grams finally arrived in WPB after their drive down A1A. We watched Get Smart. Greg and I had the whole couch to ourselves as pops and grams cuddled on the big blue chair.
Saturday grams and I went to the beals outlet that just opened up on our street bound and determined to find some deals, I walked out with some socks and a new purse, and grams walked away empty handed. From there we all went to Singer Island where we had a nice picnic, walked around a bit watching the boats go in and out of the inlet, and Mya managed to roll around in something that had a smell that was a mix of poo and garbage. Needless to say the drive back to WPB was not a pleasant one with that in the car. After a quick and much needed bath for the dog we took a little nap before heading to City Place for dinner. We managed to pound down a large pizza from City Pizza one of our favorite pizza places in town, and walked around a bit listening to the live entertainment in the center of the courtyard. With nothing but Mexican train and strawberry shortcake on my mind we headed back home where Grams gave Greg a run for his money at domino's and pops and I struggled to stay afloat. After a while I decided to just get more dessert and coffee and enjoy my evening that way (if we had been playing cards I am sure I would have fared better). After pops and grams went to bed I made the mistake of returning my mom's phone call only to find out that she had done our taxes and that the government wants $1600 more of our hard earned dollars, no refund check this year. I slept horrible and woke up tired, Greg was a bit grouchy from that news too!
But we went to church Sunday morning and then said goodbye to the grandparents, took a nap, took Mya to the park where she managed to keep clean, went to Starbucks to read, and retired for the evening. This morning I noticed that my diet does not like pizza, cookies, and strawberry shortcake, but I sure enjoyed eating it :)
That was our fun weekend in a nutshell, sorry I ramble sometimes :)

Ouchie
Have you ever had someone put a drill to your head? You know right above your right eye? Kinda by your eyebrow? We if so has that person put that drill to your head and drilled into your brain for 'eh about 17 hours straight? No? Well I have a migraine right now and it feels as if there is a mean man (no woman would do this) holding a drill to my skull and is trying to penetrate into my brain. Medication wont touch it, sleep wont make it go away, Mya's barking definitely doesn't help, I was really grouchy to Greg last night, and I couldn't go on my run this morning. I am as you can tell really looking forward to going to work.
On another brighter note, this is the first Blog written on our NEW newnewnewnew COMPUTER puterputerputer.... We finally got a mac and now we have a wireless card for it so we got the Internet up and running last night. It is pretty sweet.
As for our weight loss challenge, Greg and I are holding pretty steady. I am staying at a pretty solid 5.5# loss, hoping to make it 10 eventually, but have not lost all week. Not sure where Greg is, I stopped asking when his answer was always the same. I am still eating pretty healthy and I am exercising every other day thanks to my new running partner, and my pants fit me much better. So that alone if I lose no more weight makes me feel pretty good (except for the headache at the current moment).
