It's a....

GIRL!!!!!

Yay, it was so much fun to see her today. I have not seen an image of her since 6 weeks. Today the ultrasound tech said she looked great, her heart had 4 sections, her bones were all there, we could see her brain (it was quite large) she was yawning (photo above) and moving all around. She said it looks like 3 lines which means a girl, so I will take her word for it, I couldn't see it, but I assume that if it was a boy we would defiantly be seeing something. She is supposedly the size of a sweet potato this week. The tech also said the due date was pretty accurate, she said it could be about 4 days off because the baby was measuring long, but I think she just might be a tall one.
We have decided to name her Lillian (something) and call her Lilly. I like the -lly like me, and it has a cute ring to it. We can't decide on middle names right now. We have a few but all I know is Marie is out, too many Maries!

Bam!

This weekend was a good one. Saturday after my working a double header in the beautiful sunshine I got to go out to dinner and do some shopping with my friend Amanda. All the while Greg managed to get tickets to go to a Skillet and Toby Mac concert last minute with John. Shopping was good until Amanda got a phone call and looked like she was about to cry, soon after I find out her husband hit my car that was parked in their driveway while he was backing out of their garage. Sadly enough this is not the first time my parked car has been hit by someone backing out of their driveway, so I just laughed and went back to her place to assess the damage. Ya, good 'ol black beauty has a dent but it is drivable until we decide how we (they) are going to fix it, OOPS!!!

Saturday finished off with a Holly like migraine, so I called it a night after the car incident and was in bed by 9:30. Sunday Greg and went pregnant clothes shopping. WAHOO...no, actually I really don't enjoy it for some reason. Some of the items are really cute and some just are awful! Like why do I want to look like I am wearing Mumu just because I am with child?! I tried on a dress that looked more like a night gown when it was on. 80$ down and I went home with a pair of jeans, 2 tops, and a bathing suit. I am going to hit up Ross and TJ Max next to see if I can score some cheap items. I really don't need a LOT of things I just don't want to have to wear the same 4 tops for the next 4 months, ya know? I do think it is funny at that store they have a little Velcro belly you can put on to see how the clothes will fit when the bump is bigger, I just felt silly!

Week 17: Onion

This week the baby is an onion...and mama has not vomited since Saturday. I hope it is safe to say that this morning sickness things could be over! PRAISE JESUS! Saturday Greg and I had a fun date night, we have been trying to get in as many date nights now while we still can. After dinner we had to go to Target so I could get my first few maternity items on the cheap. I kinda bumped out a bit on Saturday, I no longer look chubby, you can actually tell there is a little bump there, well I can at least. Unfortunately, pictures don't do it justice but soon hopefully. So, I got some comfy yoga like pants and some khaki shorts which I actually have on today. I love this time in my life when wearing elastic waist pants is totally acceptable!

I head back for a checkup tomorrow, listen to the HB and some blood tests with one of the doctors I have seen prior, she actually had real shoes on. Then the following week we will get to see the little onion finally again after 11 weeks for the anatomy screening. Thankfully I am getting much better with all the blood work, I don't even get light headed and my heart rate remains stable. (earlier last year I was waiting for blood work for migraines I was getting and my resting heart rate was about 120 in anticipation!) So, I would say I am making progress.

Quilt time

Looks like the fabric I ordered should be at my door when I get home. There must be something in the water right now, or I am just at that age where everyone around me is pregnant or planning to get pregnant or just had a child. Last year I had the joy of making 4 baby quilts for friends a co-workers. This year, so far, I will be making 2. One for Karem, the financial secretary at work will be having a little girl in July, and the other for Dawn, a friend, who will be having a boy in July. I really have had fun shopping for fabrics and coming up with ideas, but I think I am going to go with the easy fat quarter pattern I have used to make Karen a lap quilt with, and the first baby quilt I made for Will. It is really cute and simple and uses a lot of fabrics. Although the "baby" quilt size that the pattern makes is more like a toddler size, so I may be scaling down the pattern a bit. But here are the fat quarter bundles I have chosen...

Karem was using lime green, red, and black for her baby room, so I thought this might be a fun color bundle to use.Dawn was not sure what here nursery theme was going to be but I thought this was just cute boy without screaming sports and cars and so much blue you can't stand it.

I am excited to see what we are going to have there are SO many cute baby quilt patterns out there that I would love to get to make as heirloom projects, I still have the "huggie" Grandma P made for me when I was born.

Guacamole Anyone?

Today, week 16/month 4, baby is the size of an avocado if I am "average". There is no mistaking it anymore when I palpate, I can for sure feel little melon in there. Greg can't feel it, or doesn't want to at this point, I don't think his palpating skills are up to par. But I am feeling great, my morning sickness has just become routine, and I am just looking forward to the 31st.

Rambling...

This past week went by fast! It was Spring Break at PBA, and I took it upon myself to break in the Spring as much as possible. Pops and Grams came down from Cocoa Beach to spend a couple days with us (wed-fri), and they were my good luck charms again, 2 mornings in a row with no sickness to be seen, but as soon as they left it was back to normal?!
It was a strange week as well...
Men's basketball won the NCCAA south regional and will be traveling to Indiana for the NCCAA national championship, Thursday night Palm Beach County had record breaking rain fall it poured buckets, there is crazy-ness going on at work as one of the coaches was let go and there are all sorts of rumors going around about someone they are bringing in, Saturday and Sunday it was gorgeous outside the best weather we have had around here in months.

Because this weekend was so lovely we decided that Saturday was a great day to take Mya to the beach. When we got there we saw that there was a art fest along the water as well. It worked out perfectly, we enjoyed the beach and the sun for a while and when that got old we walked Mya's little booty off at the art fest, she got her flirt on with the locals and we had a very nice Florida-y day. Sunday was great as well, after church I got to dig into the egg salad I made up the night before (some of my best work) and ten we headed down to the pool to soak up some sun and enjoy our books. I apparently soaked up too much sun as my chest and arm are very lobster like but it was worth it! (today I hear some rumor about the vitamins I am on making my skin more vulnerable to the sun? I am sure it has to do with the fact that I put sunblock on my face and forgot the rest of me.)

Well, tomorrow will be 16 weeks....can't wait to see what kind of fruit Jr resembles now.

Orangey

According to "the bump" baby is now the size of a navel orange, 15 weeks today....I kinda feel guilty, that has been my fruit of choice lately, can't get enough oranges!

New development & Bowden Curse

Yesterday I began to feel a more pronounced bump, about 4" below my belly button, you can't really see anything yet (except for my belly chub moving up and out a little bit it is very sexy!) All morning during church I was really uncomfortable, I think baby was making room, it was causing twinges and cramps, but it eventually calmed down. Greg is funny about the whole bump he wont feel it he says until he can see it, it makes him feel like he is hurting it to poke around in there, he is such a boy! Due to all that activity yesterday though this morning I could not button my khakis, they were fresh from the drier and usually that is when they are my favorite. So, I got to bust out my Bella Band (well the cheap Target version of the Bella band). For those of you who are unfamiliar is is just basically a spandex tube that you can wear all the way up over your belly or fold it over and wear it under your belly and a means of support, and in my case to hold up your pants when they can not be buttoned. It is actually very comfortable and it is a whole lot more comfortable than trying to squeeze the button closed.

So tomorrow will be 15 weeks and I am still getting morning sickness! When will this end?!?! In my mind I lovingly refer to this as the Bowden Curse! Due only to the fact that my poor mother was sick for 4-5 months of each pregnancy and it looks like I am going to follow in her footsteps. Over all during the day I feel fine, I am just OVER spending portions of my morning in spitting into the loo...(whine, whine, whine...OK, I am done)

Happy Birthday

MYA! Our first born is 2 today. She is such a delight and we are so blessed to have such a wonderful part of our family! She is always so happy when we get home from work, she loves her walks, she is such a flirt and loves to meet new people. Tomorrow we are going to take her to cold stone and get her a puppy dish of ice cream (what female doesn't like ice cream, and I am sure baby will like some too), she has earned it! If only she could learn to chew on her bones and only her bones, and keep her fur off of everything it comes into contact with she really would be the perfect pet!

13 weeks old, the day we brought her home...what a puff ball, how could we not fall in love.So happy in the tub, her face looks so small with all that fur wet, but she is still smiling.Her big girl bed, a perfect fit, it is her favorite place to eat her treats and hide socks.

There is simply no hiding it, she is a daddy's girl! And she has daddy wrapped around her little claw too.

Seriously?!?!

Let me start by saying there is still a baby in there, the heart rate was 150 this morning. That was very reassuring to hear since there is really no other sign of pregnancy at this time. And they are going to do the "anatomy screen" on March 31st so we have that to look forward to (take my poll and see if you are right), but seriously this doctor I saw today....

My Ob it is a group. So, each time I go I see a different doctor. They do this so I can sort of get to know each one throughout my pregnancy because on the day I go into labor I will get whatever doctor is on call. I kind of enjoy seeing a different doctor each time, it makes sense to me. I don't want someone down there on deliver day I have never seen before, and since I go in every month I will at least make the rounds with them all and then have some overlap with my favorites. All the doctors I have seen so far have been, well, normal. They are nice, they do what they need to do and they make sure I don't have any questions. But Dr. Choi this morning, add him to my list of NON favorites. Here was my first impression, he looked hung over, like he just rolled out of bed, his scrubs were hanging off of him, he talked like Dr. Ray (that guy on TV who does all the plastic surgery and karate, anyone know who I am talking about), he was talking really fast and practically running out of the door as soon as he was finished with the doppler, and then I looked at him more closely and saw he had FLIP FLOPS ON! WHAT! Isn't that some sort of OSHA violation? What a first impression, hopefully he doesn't wear them in the delivery room, sheesh.

Week 14...and so much more

Today baby is 14 weeks old, and according to babycenter.com it is the size of a lemon. My lemon is just resting in there peacefully I don't really feel a thing besides the occasional cramp which is more than likely baby making room. We have our monthly checkup tomorrow where I hope to hear the heartbeat again. Other than the never ending morning sickness, the heart beat is the only way I really know baby is still in there. I just want to know that there really is something in there growing away. I am sure soon enough when none of my clothes fit and I am as big as a whale I will laugh at that statement, but today I still need proof.

In an attempt to fit in some exercise, and enjoy the beautiful Florida day on Sunday we went on a family walk on the lake trail, one of our favorite spots. Here is me and my first baby, with West Palm in the background, we are on the rich side of the water. (Greg is on the other side of the camera, I promise he was there.) Mya LOVES her walks.

We received our first baby onesies yesterday from Aunt Christie and Uncle Tiny with a card that read "Pregnancy is the happiest time to feel like crap" and it is just so true! The onesies are very cute and it feels so strange to think that soon enough we will have a little body to put in them. Grandma Hill has also sent us some baby booties she whipped up (one for each sex just in case, she couldn't wait) which are also very cute. We are so excited and so blessed and so ready for the morning sickness to be done with!
