Hiatus...

Ok, you can expect big things from me in a few weeks. I apparently do some of my best blogging during the "down time" at work, and since I have not been at work I don't seem to have any "down time." But soon I will be back and you will get all the Lilly updates you can handle...in the mean time check out her pics on FB.

At the moment my Snuggle Bug is chilling with Daddy while I am covering a basketball practice to get me out of the house. She is currently 10 weeks old, a solid 13# (86%) and 24 inches long (96%). She loves to try and stand on her feet while we hold her and when she is laying down she tries so hard to sit up, but her legs pop up instead of her body. She sucks her thumb and she can smile for real now, its not gas anymore. I love her little mile stones and I love spending all day with her, even when she spit up on me 3 times today! Next big adventure will be meeting her Aunt Christie and her family, followed by going to day care, and then heading to Michigan for Christmas!

Exhaustion...

Glad today is my last day of work. I have just been getting so puffy and exhausted I think it is time to be done. Our house was clear of anything eatable yesterday and considering Lilly could decided to come any time now I thought it would be good if we had some food in the house when she did. After work, I got home and cleaned out the fridge. It had started with the intention of just throwing away old leftovers, and quickly evolved into purging the fridge of anything remotely questionable checking all expiration dates and scrubbing out the drawers and shelves. After a quick dinner of grilled cheese and rice a roni, we headed to the store. My hips have been getting kinda sore when I walk and as always if I am standing for too long I have to go to the bathroom, so long excursions like this are becoming less and less enjoyable. Unfortunately, toward the end of the shopping trip, back sore, hip hurting, Greg decided to do something (couldn't tell you what it was if I wanted to, something about fruit juice and getting snacks for the hospital bag) and the water works were unstoppable, I had had it, and apparently bawling my eyes out seemed the best way to get it all out. Thankfully the tears did not start until we were in the checkout line and I could hold the sobbing until we got in the car. For the record I do not enjoy crying, and I have never quite been the emotional type, even throughout my pregnancy I would say I have been pretty stable. But last night I think I was just exhausted! So, when the tears were done and the groceries were unloaded, a couple windmill cookies seemed to make everything all better.

My hair is so long right now (below the bra strap) I am very anxious to chop it off and donate it and get something light and new done. But I think that will wait until I am able to ditch the pony tail...maybe a while.
This morning I decided the world could see my belly (just not my face and my ankles) and I snapped some shots in the orange bathroom (sorry its really orange in there) before heading out the door.
See Lilly my timer has popped...you're ready.And the Large shirt isn't cutting it anymore I don't think it has much stretch left, but the basketball looks like it is dropping (maybe? please?)

Just as I was telling Lilly (ya, I was talking to my belly at the dr. office)to get out of my belly the ultrasound tech came around the corner to tell me the room was ready. This was the same tech who told me in January that I was in fact pregnant rather than having PCOS like the doctor suspected. Lilly was cooperating to a point and we were blessed to see her little face with her big cheeks. She was head down which is great news, and she was holding her foot right up by her face so she is pretty much folded in half. The tech said I have a ton of fluid, which makes me nervous, I mean what if my water breaks at work....gonna be a gusher. (greg's nose, look at those cheeks!)

I have been working hard this past week with preseason going on, getting up early, a lot of walking and up and down, which is taking its toll on my poor feet and ankles. When I stepped on the scale today I was thinking there is no way I gained any weight I have been so busy and I have been eating really well (no ice cream all week!). Well the scale thought otherwise as I added another 4# to my total (WHAT!?!?!?) I am doing my best to blame it on all the swelling and water retention.

But, all in all today was a good checkup, although I am not dilated at all things seem to be progressing and if nothing else I am one day closer to my due date. She can't stay in there forever, I will see to that!

Ok today I have had it with being pregnant. I have worked all week, my feet hurt, I get out of breath way to easily, I am tired, I threw up again this morning out of no where, it is hot out, nothing fits, all the students are back and making OH MY GOSH YOUR SO HUGE comments. I am just ready to be out of here and have this kid! I have a heightened sense of awareness of my body lately as I am looking for signs of labor, but I know I still have a few weeks to go....oh man pray for me.

Eviction notice

We had our 37 week checkup, and for those of you who are not up to date on the world of baby this means that Lilly is officially full term. Everything went well, except for the part where I think their scales need to be recalibrated as I KNOW I did not gain 3 pounds in one week after holding steady for the past 2, maybe I just gained it all in my face. I am telling you this swelling thing is no joke. But the doctor told us that we can get another ultrasound next week to check baby position and try and guess baby weight. That is exciting. She also let us know that they do not let babies go over one week overdue, so that gives Lillian an eviction notice of Sept 7th, which is also very nice. Lastly she said we can just opt to induce on our due date if we wanted to rather than waiting, which kind of surprised me. But, I think I would rather just try and wait and let nature run it's course because I hear being induced is not always the most fun either and I would like to limit my time in the hospital as much as possible.

Lilly is moving a ton, she totally favors the right side, I think I have a butt in my rib cage most of the time and her legs and arms are over to the left side constantly doing something. I am doing good all in all, back at work so moving quite a bit so that is good makes the days go by faster.

We are ready though! I guess ready as you can be for something you can't really totally prepare for. Hopefully Mya is ready I think she has no clue.

Updates...it's August!

I am back and it is officially August...which means I officially have 4 weeks left until my official due date. Whether Lilly wants to cooperate and come on time we will all have to wait and see. I have been busy nesting and trying to stay cool, but today started back at work so hopefully the time will pass even faster. But here are some things you might have been waiting to see...

Yesterday we took Mya on a nice long walk on the waterfront. Little did we know it was Jamaican Independence Day so we had some nice blaring music to keep up entertained as we strolled.
Since it has been about 4 weeks since you have seen a side shot I figured this would do. It is all in my face and belly apparently let the swelling begin!

Here is Lilly's Quilt...the first time I have added a tag to a quilt, I got inspired and just folded a square over and sewed it in when I sewed on the binding, it turned out quite well

Here is the back, love this fabric, Hunky Dory by Moda. You can see the little tag in the lower right, and "creepy Minnie" in the left. She was a gift and I like her, but she creeps Greg out hence the name....

Here is the front, all charm squares with cream sashing and yellow border. This would be "good Minnie" she rattles we got her in Disney a few months back.
We decided not to paint since we are renting and painting is a chore, and since Lilly wont be able to use her quilt for a while anyways we just decided to put it on display.

Here is the other corner of the room, don't mind the mess on the floor, I am working on it. The little lamp on the table I embellished with rick rack, and I made the pink and white crib skirt which matched the binding on the quilt. What you can't see from the photos is directly across from the crib is a large dresser/hutch/changing table with ton of storage. Pretty simple but it should do the job. (the swing is in the living room, and the pack and play is in our bedroom for the first few weeks/months).

Here is the quilt that Nana (my mom) made her. It is a rag quilt, all flannel and the hearts are minky. It is very soft and I am sure it will get a ton of use.
